Example competition routines

"How do I make a routine?"

Student gymnastics competitions are always a very fun time, especially if you’re participating! However, if you’ve never done gymnastics before, it can be intimidating to try to put together routines. The rules and regulations can be quite confusing for someone who is not familiar with the sport. For this reason, we have put together some example competition routines for the lower levels. For the four-event discipline, these are levels D4-6, and for the six-event discipline are these levels H4 and 5.

We hope that the videos below will help you get an idea of what components are required in a routine and which elements can be performed to fulfil certain requirements. Feel free to use these example routines as inspiration, as many of the elements (ex. a cartwheel) can be substituted for other elements (ex. a round-off). Creativity is encouraged!

We also have a Frequently Asked Questions page, where the basic rules and principles of (student) gymnastics are explained. For example, “How are the scores structured at a gymnastics competition?”. We hope that these two resources help you find your way! If you still have questions, feel free to send an email to u.turn.utrecht@gmail.com, or ask the board or trainers during practice. Everyone is happy to help!

For your convenience, you can also view all example routines in one document via the links below.
